Door-to-door means the truck comes to you rather than you driving to a terminal. It does not always mean the trailer stops directly outside your front door, and it is better to understand why before booking day.

What door-to-door includes
With door-to-door service, the carrier collects the vehicle from your home, office or dealership and delivers it as close as possible to the address you specify. There is no terminal drop-off, no separate storage yard, and no additional handling between the two ends.
That matters for more than convenience. Every extra handover is a point where damage can occur and where responsibility becomes harder to pin down. A vehicle that is loaded once and unloaded once has a much simpler chain of custody than one that passes through two yards on the way.
Door-to-door is included in every quote we issue. It is not an upgrade and we do not price it separately.
Why fewer handovers matters
The practical case for door-to-door is not really about convenience.

Confirm the addresses
Give us both, and flag anything unusual: narrow streets, gated entry, low branches, height restrictions.

Driver contacts you
Once assigned, the driver calls to agree a collection point and time window that works for both of you.

You walk the vehicle together, record its condition, sign the Bill of Lading, and the driver loads it.

The driver calls ahead, you inspect against the pickup record, sign, and settle the balance.
Why the truck sometimes stops down the road
A loaded car carrier is roughly 75 feet long and around 13 and a half feet tall. That is not a vehicle that can turn into a cul-de-sac, clear a residential tree line, or fit under a parking structure entrance.
When your street cannot physically or legally take the truck, the driver arranges to meet you nearby, usually in a supermarket car park, a wide side road or a retail lot a few minutes away. That is standard practice across the whole industry, and any company promising the trailer will reach every front door is not being straight with you.
Gated communities, HOA restrictions and city ordinances against commercial vehicles on residential streets create the same situation. It is worth checking your own restrictions before booking, because the driver finding out on the day is what turns a smooth delivery into a stressful one.

Door-to-door shipping questions
Does the truck really come to my door?
It comes as close as it legally and safely can. On wide, open streets that often means directly outside. On narrow residential roads, in gated communities or under low tree cover, the driver will arrange a nearby meeting point a few minutes away.
Do I have to be there for pickup and delivery?
Someone over 18 must be present at both ends to inspect the vehicle and sign the Bill of Lading. It does not have to be you. A friend, relative, neighbour or colleague can act on your behalf if you tell us in advance.
Is door-to-door more expensive than terminal shipping?
The headline rate can be slightly higher, but terminal shipping frequently adds storage fees once the free days run out. Once you count those and your own two extra trips, door-to-door usually costs less overall.
What if nobody can be there at the delivery address?
Tell us early and we will work out an alternative, whether that is nominating someone else, adjusting the delivery address, or arranging short-term storage. What does not work is the driver arriving to find nobody home.
Can you collect from a dealership or auction?
Yes, and commercial locations are usually easier than homes because the access is designed for trucks. We only need the site's release hours and any reference number they require.
How much notice does the driver give before arriving?
Typically a call the day before, then another when they are an hour or so out. You will have the driver's direct number from the moment they are assigned.
