Moving house is a sequence of dates that never quite line up. The car is usually the item that gets thought about last and causes the most inconvenience when it goes wrong.
The gap nobody plans for
The usual sequence is this. You fly or drive ahead. The moving truck arrives on its own schedule. And the house is not available until a date that has nothing to do with either.
Car transport booked without thinking about that gap creates one of two problems. Either the vehicle arrives before you have anywhere to put it, or it arrives a week after you started needing it in a city you do not know yet.
Tell us about the gap at booking. There are three workable answers: deliver to a temporary address, deliver near your workplace, or delay collection so the vehicle lands after you have access. All three are easy to plan and awkward to improvise.
Moving more than one vehicle
Households frequently have two or three vehicles and book them separately without checking. That is usually a mistake.
A carrier's cost per trip is largely fixed, so a second vehicle shares those costs rather than doubling them. Two cars from one driveway to one address is the cheapest configuration in auto transport, and it also means one delivery day instead of two arrivals three days apart.
How to sequence it
- Confirm your move-in date first. Everything else is scheduled backwards from it.
- Decide who receives the car. Someone over 18 must sign at both ends. It does not have to be you.
- Book two to three weeks out where you can. Summer is peak relocation season nationally and capacity tightens.
- Flag access at both ends. Narrow streets, gated communities and low tree cover all mean the truck may need a nearby meeting point.
Company-funded moves
If your employer is paying, the billing usually needs to go to them rather than to you as an expense claim. Say so at booking and we will set it up that way from the start.
Where a whole team is relocating on the same corridor, several vehicles can often share trailers, which reduces cost per move and gives your mobility contact one schedule instead of six. That sits under corporate relocation.
What it costs
Distance, vehicle size, open or enclosed, running condition and date flexibility. Nothing about a household move changes those fundamentals.
The two levers you actually control are timing and consolidation. A three-day pickup window prices better than a fixed date, and shipping vehicles together prices better than shipping them apart. Both are usually available to you and frequently unused.

What if my new home is not ready when the car arrives?
Tell us early and we plan around it. Options include delivering to temporary accommodation, delivering near your workplace, or delaying collection so the vehicle arrives once you have access.
Should I ship both our cars together?
Almost always. A second vehicle shares the fixed cost of the trip rather than doubling it, and both arrive on the same day rather than several days apart.
How far ahead should I book a household move?
Two to three weeks is comfortable. Summer is peak relocation season across the whole industry, so allow more time if you are moving between May and August.
Can I put boxes in the car?
Up to 100 lbs in the trunk or below the window line is generally accepted. Carriers are not insured for personal belongings, so nothing valuable or fragile should travel in the vehicle.
Can my employer be billed directly?
Yes. Say so at booking and we will set the account up that way, so you are not paying upfront and reclaiming it later.
